This new set is made for birch bark canoe builders, it has; a general use mokotagen with wider blade and steeper bevel for use on hard woods and heavy work. A “canoe blade” mokotagen which has a narrower blade, and shallower bevel for softer woods and finer carving. As well as a round awl and triangle awl.
They all have matching Birdseye maple handles, with hemlock stain and a custom burlap carrying case.
Ordinarily this would include a shorter blade mokotagen for detail carving and a 1/4 inch “chisel” for the thwart mortising. This kit was asked for custom by a canoe builder in Ontario, Canada. Where he’s teaching native youth programs on birch bark canoe building.
